Funeral services for Mr. Lee Edward Gatlin will be 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, at Riverwood Family, resuming Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.

Mr. Gatlin, 83, of Bogue Chitto, passed from this life Aug. 27, 2019, at North Oaks Health Center in Hammond, Louisiana. He was born in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, June 15, 1936, to his parents, Edgar Neely Gatlin and Thresa Mae Whittington Gatlin. He was a 1954 graduate of Bogue Chitto High School where he played on a state basketball championship team. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Bogue Chitto Masonic Lodge #260. He served as a Lincoln County supervisor from 1976-1984. He was a wonderful PawPaw and loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports and was an avid Mississippi State fan. Daddy loved gardening and riding his Farmall tractor. Through the years he worked in the oilfield, shipyard, timber industry, sales and was self-employed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Aline Maxwell; and granddaughter, Megan Mae Gatlin.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Ernestine Case Gatlin; son, Jamie Gatlin and wife Frances; daughters, Vickie Bigham and husband, Dave, Julie Gray and husband, Kent; brother, Charles Gatlin and wife Betty; sister, Earline Hall, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roland and Irma Ross; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his longtime friend and “Preacher,” Bro. Billy Howse, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
