A Monticello man died early Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash in the Oma community.

Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Danny McNeese pronounced Gerald Sutton, 54, dead at the scene just after 2 a.m.

Sheriff Lessie Butler said Sutton was driving on Monticello Road and apparently had a blow-out on his truck and lost control. Butler said the truck hit a culvert and Sutton was thrown out of the passenger side of the truck.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
