Lady Wolves dominate the Lady Dolphins

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves picked up a big road victory on Friday as the team defeated the Delgado Community College Lady Dolphins, 82-40. The win moves the Lady Wolves to 5-0 on the year.
The first half was all Co-Lin as the Lady Wolves opened the game on a 10-0 run. Co-Lin’s defense was very successful in the opening minutes as they prevented the Lady Dolphins from even attempting a shot for the first three minutes of the game. Delgado got on the board with 5:44 remaining in the first quarter.
The second quarter was much like the first as Co-Lin dominated under the basket on both sides of the floor. Dashell Davis was just one rebound shy of a double-double after the first 20 minutes with 10 points and nine boards. The Lady Wolves lead grew continuously throughout the half as they limited the Lady Dolphins to just two offensive rebounds. Going into the locker room Co-Lin led by 27, 43-16.
Co-Lin continued the dominating play in the second half as the Lady Wolves’ lead grew into the forties at the start of the fourth quarter.
Sha’Quandra Carter led the Lady Wolves in scoring with 16 points, while Dashell Davis posted her second consecutive double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Chardonay Williams rounded out the Lady Wolves’ double-digit scorers with 10 points. Darien Tubby led Co-Lin with six assists. Tubby and Ciara Norwood also both had five steals on the night.
NanNecia Nora led the Lady Dolphins with 11 points, while Indya Tutt posted a team-high six rebounds for Delgado.
As a team, Co-Lin shot 46 percent (31-of-67) from the floor, 28 percent (5-of-18) from three-point range, and 71 percent (15-of-21) from the free throw line. Co-Lin had 54 total rebounds. The Lady Dolphins shot 25 percent (15-of-61) from the floor, six percent (1-of-13) from downtown, and 41 percent (9-of-22) from the stripe. Delgado had 37 rebounds in the game.
