It was a wild one in the backwoods of Bogalusa, Louisiana, on Friday night. Ultimately it will go down as a win for Brookhaven Academy as the Cougars held off a feisty bunch of Eagles from Ben’s Ford Christian School, 54-26.
BA led 48-26 at halftime.
For a time, it felt like BA senior wide receiver Cade Brown might win the game all by himself. Brown returned three kickoffs for touchdowns in the first half. He finished the game with 322 all-purpose yards. His returns went for 83, 81, and 70 yards.
Junior running back Nick Ogden was a wrecking ball for the Cougar offense. Ogden rushed the ball 10 times for 144 yards and four touchdowns.
Eagle quarterback Tyler Winstead kept his team in the game and the Cougar defense on their heels most of the night. Winstead went 21-for-30 for 289 yards and two touchdowns
The game was severely delayed by lightning and did not finish until 11 p.m.
