The Brookhaven High Panthers (3-1) finished the non-district portion of their schedule on Friday night with a 33-3 win over their longtime rivals, the McComb Tigers (1-2).
Brookhaven got on the board in the first quarter when Panther quarterback Sevante Quinn called his own number for a 3-yard touchdown run.
McComb pulled within four when Tejay Patel knocked through a 25-yard field goal early in the second quarter.
The next Panther touchdown came after the Brookhaven defense forced a turnover on downs. Quinn would then hook up with John Hilbert on a 53-yard touchdown pass.
Brookhaven led 14-3 at halftime.
In the second half the Quinn to Hilbert connection would be more than the Tigers could stop.
Hilbert had touchdown catches of 27 and 20 yards as the Panthers pulled away in the third quarter.
Safety Isaiah Wall would also score a second half touchdown for Brookhaven when he returned a fumble 4 yards to the end zone.
“It was a good team win,” said Panther head coach Tucker Peavey. “The defense played really well and gave great effort all night.”
