Franklin Co. Little Leaguers in SW Regional

The Franklin County Little League 11- and 12-year-olds are the Mississippi District 1 Little League State Champions. They swept Natchez and Hattiesburg to clinch state, and are now in Waco, Texas, to represent Mississippi and compete in the Little League Baseball Southwest Regional. The team defeated Colorado Thursday, 15-10, registering 13 hits. Hayden Zimmerman ended the game with three hits and four RBIs. Noah McCormick had three hits and three RBIs. Mississippi advances in the winner’s bracket of the eight-team tournament and will play again at 8 p.m. today against Texas-East. Games are televised on ESPN. The tournament winner will advance to the 72nd Little League World Series, beginning Aug. 16.
