Lady Wolves block Ms. Delta CC — Co-Lin moves to 10-10 in MACJC play

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves moved to 10-10 in MACJC play with two big road wins over Mississippi Delta Community College Sunday. The wins moved the Lady Wolves to 19-16 overall. Co-Lin was back in Wesson on Tuesday hosting Pearl River Community College.
Game one
The Lady Wolves scored early and often in game one as the teams bats were hot.
In the top of the second, Taylor Bryant reached on a lead-off single and was quickly brought home by a two-run homer from Bailey Root.
Tori Pettit led off the top of the third with a single and scored later in the inning on a Mississippi Delta Error to stretch the Lady Wolves’ lead to 3-0.
Two additional errors in the top of the fifth gave Co-Lin three more runs. They scored Morgan Dubose, Pettit and Callie Fortenberry.
The Lady Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single that plated two, but Co-Lin pulled the game out of reach in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly from Dubose and an RBI double from Harmoni Ashley that scored Bryant and Julie Scheuermann.
Root was the winning pitcher for the Lady Wolves. She went six innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out seven. Makenzie Smith threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Makenna Morgan took the loss for Delta as she allowed nine hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out one.
Dubose, Bryant, and Pettit each collected two hits to lead the Lady Wolves at the plate.
Game two
The Lady Wolves held off a late push from the Lady Trojans in game two to secure the much need MACJC sweep Sunday night as Mississippi Delta plated nine runs in the final two innings.
Co-Lin started the game on fire with a pair RBI singles from Bailey Root and Tori Pettit, and an RBI double from Alex Anthony to get an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first.
An RBI single from Allison Livingston in the top of the fourth grew that Co-Lin lead to 7-0 after Anthony and Alexsundria Thomas crossed the plate.
Thomas added an additional two runs in the sixth with an RBI double that pushed Anthony and Paige Hulin across, and Taylor Bryant added one with an RBI single that scored Thomas. Going into the bottom of the sixth, Co-Lin lead 10-0.
The Lady Trojans came to life and rattled off five runs in the bottom of the sixth off an RBI double, RBI single, sac fly, and fielder’s choice.
Mississippi Delta then gave the Lady Wolves a scare in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single and back-to-back RBI doubles to bring the game within one, 10-9. Mackenzie Gros locked down the final two batters with a fly ball and a groundout to secure the win.
Gros earned the victory in the circle as she lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero.
Morrison took the loss for Mississippi Delta. She surrendered ten runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out two.
Anthony went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Wolves.
