The Lawrence County High School archery team, under the direction of first-year coach Tawanna Thornton, won their sixth consecutive state championship Tuesday afternoon. This is the first year that the Mississippi High School Activities Association has included archery as a sport. Former championships were won under Archery in Mississippi Schools. The Cougars now hold the title of MHSAA Class II 2018 Archery State Champions.
