Funeral services for Jo Ann K. Hawkins, of Brookhaven, are today, March 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, with burial at the church cemetery. Bro. Ronny Robison, Bro. Stuart Purvis, and Bro. Garland Boyd will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be March 27, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Hawkins, 74, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Monticello, to D.H. “Nub” King and Idelia Bardwell King. She enjoyed being with her family, reading her Bible and listening to Elvis Presley. Her motto was, “Life is uncertain, eat dessert first!” She was a loving Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, John J. Hawkins; sisters, Katherine Hall and Yvonne Coon; and her brother, Homer King.

Survivors are her daughters, Alice Faye Davis, Patricia Boyte and husband Tim; grandchildren, Neal Boyte and wife Lindsey, Jo Ellen Edwards and husband Dr. Chad Edwards, Zach Davis, and Danielle Davis; great-grandchildren, Christian Boyte, Easton Boyte, Klayre Davis, Barrett Davis, Mason Boyte, and Joleigh Edwards; sister, Donis Foster and husband Donald; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Hawkins’ name may be made to: The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.
