Co-Lin out 8-0 in game 2 vs. EMCC

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves could not find their rhythm in the nightcap as the East Mississippi Lady Lions swept Co-Lin with an 8-0 victory. The loss moved the Lady Wolves to 14-9 on the season. The Lady Wolves look to regroup as Co-Lin hosts No. 1 JCJC today.
“It wasn’t a good day. Some of us were mentally still on spring break,” said Co-Lin head coach Allen Kent. “We gave up some inopportune walks and didn’t make some plays that extended some innings. Offensively we just weren’t able to get things going.”
East Miss took a 1-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI double and broke the game open in the bottom of the third with five runs off two RBI doubles and two RBI singles.
Co-Lin picked up some hits here and there, but the Lady Wolves were unable to hone in and capitalize at the plate.
The Lady Lions ran away with the game in the bottom of the fifth with two home runs that secured the 8-0, five-inning victory.
Mackenzie Gros took the loss for the Lady Wolves in the circle. She went two and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one.
In the field, the Lady Wolves did not have an error and were led by Scheuermann who made four plays.
