Funeral services for Mr. J. C. Vaughn, of Bogue Chitto, were held Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Montgomery Baptist Church in Summit, with burial at the church cemetery. Bro. Mike McKee and Bro. Larry Russell officiated the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and continued Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Mr. Vaughn, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at his residence. He was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Allen, Oklahoma, to Jack and Bessie Shandy Vaughn. He was a member of Montgomery Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was retired from the oilfield, and loved to raise a big garden so he could share with all his family, friends and neighbors. He was an avid beekeeper that loved to share his honey with others; and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a man of God who took every opportunity to tell someone about the Lord. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Long Vaughn; son, Gary Vaughn and wife Carolyn, of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Lisa Vaughn Reid and husband Richard, of Bogue Chitto; one brother; one sister; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers were be Brad Vaughn, Andy Vaughn, Justin Wallace, Cody Wallace, Will Dowling and Keith Havelka.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Vaughn’s name to the Montgomery Baptist Church Building Fund, 495 Montgomery Road SW, MS 39666.
