Funeral services for Mary Nell Martin, of Wesson, are today, Dec. 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Wesson with burial at the church cemetery. Bro. Tom McCormick will officiate the services. Riverwood Family Funeral Services in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church and will continue today, Dec. 19, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Nell, 88, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Ulysses and Eva Nell Byrd Furlow and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Wesson. Mary Nell was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.P. “Pete” Martin; sons, Dan and John Thomas Martin; brother, James Edward Furlow; sister, Vera Parker; granddaughter, Jewel Arlon Martin; and grandson, Danny Joe Rice.

Survivors are her daughters, Betty “Susie” Steen and husband Alvin, Cindy Vidic and husband Richard, MaryAnn Moore and husband Sammy; sisters-in-law, Lucille Keys and Susia Prine; grandchildren, Lavon (Katina), David, Jewel (Alex), Ezra, Oliver, Michelle, and Kimberly Martin, April and Holly Steen, Caleb (Seprina) and Eli “Doodle” Rice, Lacie Bates; and her companions, Ginger and Gucci.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Stronghope VFD and Stronghope Baptist Church for hosting blood drives, Hospice Ministries, and Copiah County Medical Center staff.
