Funeral services for Georgia S. Smith, of Brookhaven, are today, Dec. 1, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial at Beauregard Cemetery in Wesson. Bro. Glen Martin will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at Haven Hall Nursing Home in Brookhaven. She was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Wesson to Oscar J. and Miriam Howington Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven for several years but has missed her church so much since health problems caused her to be unable to attend. She was employed with AT&T for 35 years as a supervisor in the business office, repair center, and engineering office. She loved her church, friends, her home, yard, traveling, playing golf with her husband and going to the mountains.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Mary Alice Smith Weeks, Mattie Smith McIntosh Woods, Lora Etta Smith Smith, and Velma Smith Carraway; and brothers, Walter J. “Smutt” Smith and Horace Smith.

Survivors are her husband, Bill J. Smith, of Brookhaven; daughter, Monica Reeves and husband Bill, of Brookhaven; grandson Matthew J. Guiffreda and wife Lacey; great-grandchildren, Kolbey Guiffreda and Laken Guiffreda; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Smith requested donations be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 215 West Cherokee St., Brookhaven, MS 39601.
