Brookhaven police are searching for shooting suspect

Brookhaven police are looking for information that could lead to the arrest of an individual who shot into a car traveling on Union Street.

Capt. Clint Earls said the small black passenger car was shot around 4 a.m. Saturday on Union Street near Hwy. 51.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was not hit by the bullet but did suffer minor injuries from scraping his leg.

Police have served a search warrant and are looking for a possible person of interest, Earls said.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Brookhaven Police Department at 601-833-2424 or CrimeStoppers at 601-823-0150. Tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
