The West Lincoln Bears came close to catching up to Amite County’s Trojans Friday night, losing 34-26 in their homecoming game.

“They beat us by a touchdown,” head coach BJ Smithhart said.

That’s much better than the last time the two teams met, when Amite County took it to West Lincoln, winning 54-6.

Smithhart said the team looked to be rallying back from their 42-6 loss to Stringer in their last game.

“We’ve got to get back on the right side,” he said. “We did a lot of good things. I wish we could have done a little more. I thought the kids did a good job.”

The Bears (2-5) travel within the county Friday to Enterprise (1-5) to battle the Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
