A man who was shot in the jaw is accused of trying to hit the shooter first with his truck, authorities said.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies received a call Sunday at 6:56 p.m. at 2265 West Lincoln Drive and discovered a 35-year-old man had been shot in the jaw, according to Sheriff Steve Rushing.
The man was taken by helicopter to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Rushing said the individual who fired the shot told deputies the man tried to hit him with his truck so he shot at the vehicle, striking the man.
The case is under investigation and charges have not been filed. Rushing said the case will be presented at the next available grand jury.
