They’re a big deal? You bet they are

A big congratulations is in order for two local athletic teams.
The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats won the 1A fast-pitch softball state title, and the Loyd Star Hornets won the 2A baseball state title.
It’s a big deal any time a local school wins a state championship, and Lincoln County had two this spring.
The athletes and coaches put in endless hours at practices, games and events this season. It’s great that all of the hard work has paid off.
The state titles are special to those teams and schools, but they also bring some pride to their communities and the entire county.
“The crowd was incredible. I can definitely say we packed the house tonight,” Loyd Star coach Jared Britt said after he tipped his dirt-stained hat to the crowd. “Loyd Star brought it and they always do. When we get to the playoffs, they’re amazing. These guys were hungry just as we were. Tonight, we gave them something to cheer about.”
Yes they did. Loyd Star beat the team that sent them home last year — East Union — in two games. And they made it look easy. Bogue Chitto also dominated in its title series wins.
To all the coaches, fans, families and athletes who made these championships possible, we offer a hearty “congratulations.”
