Funeral services for Jimmy T. Summers are today, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven with burial at Robert’s Memorial Cemetery in Topeka. Bro. James Harris will officiate. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue today, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mr. Summers, 70, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born April 29, 1946, in Lawrence County to Kie and Ira Jordan Summers.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired machinist from Jacobson Homelite, where he worked for 27 years. He later worked at Polyflex in Summit and Dixie Packaging in Summit. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, walking his dogs, watching sports on TV and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Willie Mae Summers Case, Mildred Summers Howell, Susie Nell Summers Reid and Marie Summers; and brothers, Miles, Ford, Johnny and Marvin Summers.

Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Oma Jean Thames Summers; daughter, Wendy Summers Butler and husband, Jody, of Bogue Chitto; step-daughters, Amy Wade, of Jayess, and Kim Greer, of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Jesielyn Butler, Blake and Emily Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers are Orville Martin, Nathan Martin, Wallace Pope, Josh Davis, Shane Thompson and Robert Rinehart. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Boyd, Robert Peden, Ethan Thames and David Greer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Erin Deaton for her special help during this time and to the staff of Camilla Hospice of McComb for their loving care.
