Season of Giving: Servitium Club serves children with fundraiser

As fall weather starts to kick in, locals will be looking for a good warm meal, and the Servitium Club aims to deliver that with their annual red beans and rice fundraiser.
The meals will be served at Lipsey School from 4-6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29. Tickets are $6 each, and must be purchased in advance.
“Lipsey’s dietary staff cooks the fine red beans and rice while the members prepare the food for curbside pick up,” Servitium Club President Jason Snider said.
The Servitium Club raises money to help children, and the red beans fundraiser is one of only two fundraisers held by the Servitium Club a year. In February, they also hold a pancake day.
“As our mission is to serve the children in Lincoln County, 100 percent of the proceeds from these two fundraisers do just that,” Snider said.
Through 2016, the Servitium Club has provided over $4,000 in scholarships and $8,000 in donations to charitable organizations, he said.
“It is awesome to be part of an organization that pays it forward to the kids right here in Brookhaven,” he said. “So please support our cause and buy some red beans and rice tickets.”
The Servitium Club meets at Poppa’s Fish House each Wednesday at noon for lunch and a program. For information about attending a meeting as a guest, joining the organization or to purchase tickets for the fundraiser, contact Snider at 601-695-8123.
