A man was assaulted outside of the Army National Guard building on Hwy. 84 shortly after midnight Saturday, according to Brookhaven Chief of Police Bobby Bell.
The 24-year-old was cut in the neck at 12:06 a.m. by an unidentified suspect.
“From my understanding, there were a couple of altercations that took place before this, but they’re not saying what it was about,” Bell said.
Bell said he underwent surgery Sunday, but was unsure of his current condition. The incident is still under investigation, and Bell expects to release more details soon. A warrant has been issued but an arrest hasn’t been made.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Brookhaven Police Department at 601-833-2424 or CrimeStoppers at 601-823-0150. Tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
