The Lincoln Civic Center Baseball Complex will welcome 30 plus teams to the Brookhaven area for a United States Specialty Sports Association baseball tournament this weekend.
Games are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be the fourth of its kind held at the Lincoln Civic Center.
The Civic Center will host one more tournament in the fall, with four more scheduled for the spring.
“This is the type event we hoped to attract when looking into building this complex,” facilities manager Quinn Jordan said. “When the average family attends one of these events, they spend on average $400.”
Jordan said he and his staff are doing all they can to make the facilities as financially viable as possible.
“We need to keep hosting these types of events for both direct and indirect economic impact,” he said.
The gate fee per person is $5. Anyone wishing to sign up for future tournaments can do so at the USSSA website.
