With forecasts of rain expected to last through the weekend, several area jamborees slated for this evening have been canceled. Lawrence County’s jamboree scheduled for 7 p.m. featuring the Cougars, Wesson High School and Loyd Star was cancelled earlier this morning.
The Brookhaven Panthers were scheduled to head to South Pike at 5:30 p.m. but that jamboree has also been cancelled. Brookhaven Academy had been slated to face off against Greenville Christian and Deer Creek at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. respectively, but those contests were also called off.
Copiah Academy was forced to cancel its jamboree at home and Hazlehurst and Franklin County, who had planned road trips to face Natchez and Crystal Springs respectively also saw their games called off.
The West Lincoln Bears will be the only team still participating in a jamboree this evening. The Bears will head to Magee to face the Trojans as well as the defending 3A Champion Collins Tigers. Those games are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Area schools Enterprise and Bogue Chitto were not scheduled to compete in any jamborees tonight.
