Ole Miss soccer ranked No. 22

OXFORD — With preseason camp on the horizon, Ole Miss soccer has already earned national accolades, checking in at No. 22 in the NSCAA Preseason Poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Rebels, coming off a 14-5-4 season and Sweet 16 appearance, are one of five teams from the Southeastern Conference in the preseason top 25. Ole Miss finished last season ranked No. 16 in the final NSCAA poll, the best finish in program history.
Earlier last season Ole Miss surged to No. 12 in the country on Oct. 27 following a five-game win streak. Six of the Rebels’ 2016 opponents appeared in the preseason ranking, including No. 7 Florida,No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 24 South Carolina, (RV) South Alabama, (RV) LSU and (RV) Michigan.
The Rebels return 18 players from last season’s roster, and welcome seven newcomers to the program. Preseason camp gets underway Wednesday morning, and will continue leading up to the preseason match at SMU slated for Aug. 12.
Ole Miss’ regular season opens Aug. 19 against Louisiana-Lafayette at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, which will begin a four-game home stand.
