Funeral services for Billy Louis Stephens, of Monticello, are today at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at Stephens Cemetery. Rev. Robert “Robby” Hathorne, Rev. Robert Dunn and Rev. Malcolm “Buck” Rester will officiate the services.

Pallbearers are Tom Stephens, Stanley Stephens, Kelly Rester, Randy Stephens, Danny Russell, and Greg Stephens.

Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continue today from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Stephens, 83, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his residence. He was born Dec. 12, 1932, at Silver Creek to Daniel E. and Missie Herrington Stephens.

Mr. Stephens was a retired assistant field foreman from Chevron. After retirement, he was a security guard at Georgia Pacific in Monticello. He was a co-founder of Seed Sowers Church in Monticello. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Proceeding him in death were his parents, Daniel E. and Missie Herrington Stephens; daughter, Judy Annette Stephens; brothers, Ernest Stephens, Claudell Stephens, Thomas V. “Pete” Stephens, B H Stephens and Kernis Stephens; and sisters, Ora Lee Stephens, Alpha Mae Stephens Reynolds and Ruth Stephens Polk.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Steen Stephens of Monticello; sons, Louis Stephens and wife Carol of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Dr. William D. Stephens and wife Melissa of Brandon; sisters, Bertile Stephens Polk and Ellisine Stephens Saulters; brother, Roy B. Stephens; grandchildren, Gracie Henry and husband Andrew, and Will Stephens and wife Taylor; stepgrandchild, Robert Biggers and wife Jessica; great grandchild, Ruthie Henry; stepgreat-grandchild, Jake Biggers; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
