Funeral services for Sondra James are Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial in Newell Cemetery. Rev. Greg Warnock and Dr. Ryan Parker will officiate.
Visitation is Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 1 until time of services at Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Ms. James, 63, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, on Dauphin Island, Alabama. She was born Nov. 27, 1952, in Brookhaven to Dykes and Helen James.
Ms. James was a graduate of Loyd Star High School. She received a bachelor’s of science degree in elementary education from Mississippi College and a master’s degree in education from William Carey University. She taught for many years at Pelahatchie Attendance Center and retired after serving in an administrative capacity with the Rankin County School District Office. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and great-nephew, Cooper Smith.
Survivors are two sisters, Linda Kay Smith (Sammy) and Patsy Parker (George); two nieces, Sonya Anders (Del) and Olivia Watts (Josh); two nephews, Shane Smith (Robyn) and Ryan Parker (Amy); three great-nieces, Molly and Melinda Anders and Leigh Taylor Smith; four great-nephews, Lane Anders, John Tyler Smith, J. Parker and Jackson Watts; and a host of family and friends.
