The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a heat advisory for the area, in effect until 7 p.m. Friday.

Highs in the mid- to upper-90s combined with high humidity will result in peak heat index values of 106-110.

Heat stress will reach dangerous levels and could lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke for those working outdoors, the weather service said.
