Loyd Star recognized football, cross-country, girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, girls’ soccer, boys’ soccer, golf, baseball, cheerleader, powerlift, track, softball and tennis athletes during a banquet Wednesday night.

In football, Nicholas Smith received the Peyton Flowers Scholarship Award and the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman Award. James Beard captured the Most Valuable Special Team Award and Parker Flowers earned the Most Valuable Defensive Linebacker Award.

In powerlift, Terril Lloyd took home the Most Outstanding Powerlifter Award.

In cross-country, Abby Thomas was selected as the Most Valuable Female Runner and the Flying Hornet Award. Jered Cade secured the Most Valuable Male Runner Award. In track, Thomas was recognized as the state champ in the girls 1600-and 3200-meter run. She also took home the Sportsmanship and Coaches Awards.

In girls’ basketball, Makenzie Smith was honored with the Most Valuable Player, Best Offensive Player and Best Rebounder honors. Jordan Shelby received the Best Defensive Player Award.

In boys’ basketball, Levi Redd and Javion Beard took home the Best Offensive Player and Most Valuable Overall Player. Beard also won the Best Defensive Player Award. Redd secured the Best Rebounder honors.

In girls’ soccer, Lesley Walker was recognized as the Most Valuable Player. Shelby Smith earned the Most Valuable Midfielder Award. Shelby Richardson secured the Most Valuable Defensive Award. Pollyanna Patterson was selected as the Most Valuable Goalie.

In boys’ soccer, Brad Jasper won the overall Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Midfielder honors. Dylan Smith captured the Most Valuable Defensive Award.

In golf, Madi Lewis was selected as the Most Valuable Female Golfer and Peyton Bullock took home the Most Valuable Male Golfer.

In cheer, Taylor Berch was recognized with the Best All-Around Award. Taryn Humphrey was honored with the Spirit Award. Madisyn Brister and Katelyn Smith earned Scholastic honors.

In tennis, Connor Crosby and Ashlyn Locke were honored as the Most Valuable Players in girls’ and boys’ tennis. Bryson Brister and Madisyn Brister were selected for the Most Valuable mixed doubles team.

In baseball, Cade Hodges captured the Most Outstanding Pitcher and the Most Outstanding Player honors. Tucker Watts earned the Offensive Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player award. Konner Allen secured the Defensive Player of the Year honors.

In fastpitch softball, Makenzie Smith earned the Most Valuable Player honors. Ali Gartman received the Slugger and Best Batting Average Awards. Abigail Thornton and Megan Norton were recognized as the Best Defensive Players.

Hornets’ Athletic Director Billy Vaughn presented two special awards. He recognized seniors Madison Jones and Brandon Cade with the Scholar-Athlete Awards.
