Funeral services for Myrtis E. Wells are Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bro. Mike Alexander, Bro. Jess Greer and Bro. Kern Wickware will officiate.
Visitation is Friday, April 15, 2016, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Sharkey Funeral Home on and Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Mrs. Wells, 106, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at her residence in Moak’s Creek. She was born Oct. 4, 1909, in Norfield to James Henry and Mollie Martin Green.
She was a lifelong member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed helping with VBS every year. Her faith in God has given her the assurance and trust that has sustained her through the trials of life. She worked for many years as a seamstress and later in life as a certified sitter. She enjoyed making crafts, painting and basket weaving. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James Henry and Mollie Martin Green; husband, Willis W. Wells; sons and daughters-in-law, Harry Arnold Wells and wife, Ethel and Willie Joe Wells and wife, Edna; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Nell Wells Clark and Gene; son-in-law, Lamar Moak; grandson, Kelvin Clark; brothers and sister-in-law, Kenneth Green and wife, Grace, and Robert Green; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Green Johnson and husband, Hollis and Arcille Green Davis and husband, J C.
Survivors are her son, James Loyd Wells Sr. and wife, Billie Sue, of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; daughter, Wilda Wells Moak of Moak’s Creek; sister-in-law, Eva Nell Woodall Green of Summit; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
