Brookhaven blanks Natchez

The Brookhaven Panthers captured a 4-0 division win over the Natchez Bulldogs Tuesday night at Moyer Field.
The Panthers, coached by Randy Spring, will be on the road Friday as they travel Natchez to battle the Bulldogs again. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Tate Walley had a dominating performance on the mound. Walley struck out eight batters, walked two and allowed only three hits on the night.
Tyler Mixon was hot at the plate for the Panthers, finishing with a 2-for-3 performance and two runs. He provided a single in the first and fifth innings.
Brookhaven never surrendered the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning on a RBI double by Darrian Wilson and a sacrifice fly by Clint Stephens.
The Panthers pushed across one run in both the fourth and the fifth.
Blaine Moak and Wilson also helped the Panthers at the plate with a double each. Clint Stephens, Jacob Porter and Walley hit safely.
Jordan Hamilton suffered the loss on the rubber for Natchez with one strikeout and no walks.
Jadarius Ivory, Derrick Lewis and Jatavis Melton directed the Bulldogs with a single each.
