BA sweeps Ben’s Ford

BOGALUSA, La. – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars dominated the Ben’s Ford Christian Eagles in four games Saturday.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cougars crushed the Lady Eagles 56-14.

In boys’ action, the Cougars feasted on the Eagles to claim a 50-29 victory.

Brookhaven Academy will return to action Monday as it hosts an annual three-day holiday tournament. The Lady Cougars battle Trinity at 6 p.m., and the boys will face Tri-County at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Cougars 56, Lady Eagles 14 

The Lady Cougars (11-5) dominated the Lady Eagles in the first half to claim a 27-6 halftime lead.

In the second half, BA continued to overpower Ben’s Ford as the Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Eagles 29-8 in the final two quarters to collect the win.

Edie Riley and Kailyn Jordan powered the Lady Cougars’ offensive attack with 12 points each. McKinley Evans, Lean Case and Cameron Watson contributed six points apiece. Sissy Byrd provided five points. Bailey Stewart scored four points. Anna-Michael Smith had three points and Anna Grace Covington added two points. Smith and Byrd were the leaders on the boards with four rebounds apiece.

Emily Crawford was the top scorer for the Lady Eagles with eight points. Addison Seal chipped in four points. Celesie Crowe had two points.

BA 50, Ben’s Ford 29

The Cougars (6-7) and the Eagles battled in a close contest as BA took a 18-12 lead into halftime. In the second half, BA exploded with a 32-17 run in the final two quarters to secure the win.

Austin Smith, Ross Felder and Ethan Nations directed the Cougars’ scoring attack with nine points each. Tate Felder chipped in with seven points. Dylan Winborne netted six points. Dawson Flowers scored five points. Luke Jackson and Colton Watson had two points each. Hunter Griffith added one point. Nations was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Winborne collected five points.

Jeremiah Slocum paced the Eagles with 12 points. Ashton Hines chipped in with nine points and Daniel Pittman scored eight points.

In junior high action,  the Lady Cougars thumped the Lady Eagles 37-22. Macey Grace Smith led the Lady Cougars with 11 points. Cassie White and Ainsley Allen scored six points each.

In the boys’ game, BA drilled Ben’s Ford 47-21. Cade Brown powered the Cougars with 16 points. Tanner Thurman contributed 14 points.
