Funeral services for Lois Roberts Lester will be at Victory Baptist Church at 11 a.m., Wednesday Nov. 4, 2015 with burial at Wellman Cemetery immediately following the service. Rev. Thomas Wicker and Bro. Ronnie Lofton will officiate the services. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven and will resume Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church.
Ms. Lester, 97, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. She was born Sept. 24, 1918.
She was a native of Brookhaven. She was a Christian who was devoted to her family and always looked forward to their visits. She was a devout member of Victory Baptist Church and was the oldest member of the church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking, the outdoors and growing beautiful flowers, which were admired by many. She was greatly loved by her community where she was considered a prayer warrior and precious to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carmon D. Lester; her parents, E.B. and Florence Roberts; two brothers, Hollis Roberts and Earl Roberts Jr.; three sisters, Ruth Roberts, Ella Mae Hall and Mollie Nations; a grandson, Randy Furr; and a granddaughter, Christine Lester.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Lester Laird and husband, Troy, of Brookhaven, Linda Lester Cook and husband, John, of Ridgeland, Tommy and Sheila Lester of Southside, Alabama and Warren and Missy B. Lester of Summit; granddaughters, Sandra Furr, Katrina Furr Pickett, Angela Cook Randle and Laurie Lester Sledge; grandsons, Tony Lester and Todd Lester; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lora Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is thankful for all the prayers and expressions of love on her behalf. They would also like to extend their gratitude for the love and care given by the doctors, nurses and staff at Camellia Estates of McComb and Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
