Lincoln County’s burn ban will likely be lifted soon, according to Civil Defense Director Clifford Galey.
Galey said Tuesday that he had the paperwork ready to give to the Mississippi Forestry Commission authorizing the ban to be lifted. MFC has to sign off on any change before it’s official. Galey said he feels like the request will go through without a problem.
The county’s ban was enacted Sept. 8 and was due to expire Nov. 2 before heavy rains hit the area recently. As of Wednesday morning, Lincoln County was still listed on the MFC’s website as having an active burn ban.
