A single-story brick home on Old Hwy. 51 was destroyed in a fire Monday evening, according to New Sight Volunteer Fire Chief Cory Smith.
Smith said fire crews arrived at about 3 p.m. to find the fire in the attic. The home was occupied but everyone was able to get out safely, he said.
New Sight was assisted by Heucks Retreat, Hog Chain, Bogue Chitto, Zetus and Ruth volunteer departments. Crews left the scene at about 8 p.m. Monday but were called back at 10 p.m. because of a flare-up under the carport.
