The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors on Monday denied a request by the tax assessor/collector to cut the salary of one of her employees by $20,000 and allocate it to another employee.
After Monday’s board meeting, an executive session was held to discuss personnel issues brought forth by Tax Assessor/Collector Rita Goss, Chancery Clerk Tillmon Bishop confirmed. Goss requested a salary adjustment that would take $20,000, or one third, of her appraiser’s salary and transfer that money to another one of her employees.
The board decided by a split vote that it was not in favor of granting that request, Bishop said. A meeting was called for next Tuesday that would discuss this proposition further, but Goss withdrew her request Thursday morning.
