West Lincoln (2-2), led by first-year head coach Charlie Jackson, snapped a 16-year drought against the Bogue Chitto Bobcats in football action last week with a 37-6 homecoming victory.
This week, the Bears are looking to add another win as they welcome the Pass Christian Pirates to Perry Miller Field.
The Pirates (2-2), coached by Kenneth Wittmann, crushed West Harrison 28-6 last week in Pass Christian.
Junior running back VJ Swanier powered the Pirates’ rushing attack with 15 carries for 109 yards.
West Lincoln’s top offensive performer last week was senior quarterback Jayden Rushing, who completed 11-of-18 passes for 197 yards.
Chase Owens was the top receiver for West Lincoln with nine receptions for 170 yards and four touchdowns. Chance Lacking led the Bears’ rushing attack with 11 carries for 73 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, Lofton Sills directed the Bears with eight tackles. Nathaniel Addison and Julian Anderson each had six tackles.
My prediction: Pass Christian’s depth will cause trouble for West Lincoln. The Pirates will prevail 42-24.
