In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Clarkdale Bulldogs’ strong offensive and defensive attack was too much for the Enterprise Jackets to handle. The Bulldogs ended the Jackets’ three-game winning steak with a 49-8 victory Friday night at Harry Cole Field.

“This was a good win for us,” Clarkdale coach Wes Roy said. “Enterprise has a very good young team and they played hard. Overall, I was pleased with my guys effort but we still have a few things to work as a team. We committed too many penalties tonight.”

The Bulldogs came out on their opening drive and had no trouble moving the ball down the field. Their rushing and passing game drained 9 minutes off the clock before scoring the first points of the game to take a early 6-0 lead after failing to convert on the two-point attempt.

After the time-consuming drive by the Bulldogs, Enterprise’s offense finally took the field and managed to move the ball with their rushing attack.

With 4:50 left in the first quarter, the Jackets scored their only touchdown of the night as Braxton Thompson punched in a five-yard rushing touchdown. Enterprise elected to go for two-point conversion and was successful on a run by Dewayne Pendleton to give the Jackets an 8-6 lead over Clarkdale to end the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Clarkdale’s offense and defense came alive and dominated the rest of the first half by outscoring Enterprise 22-0 to take a commanding 28-8 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Bulldogs continued their dominance as they toppled the Jackets with 21 unanswered points to secure a 49-8 victory.

“Clarkdale has a very good, well-coached team,” said Enterprise coach Brooks Burns. “Overall, I am extremely proud of my guys. We fought hard throughout the whole game.”

Offensively, Zach Hodges led the Jackets with 106 rushing yard on 12 carries. Tanner Waldrop contributed 46 yards rushing on 10 carries. Braxton Thompson had nine rushes for 32 yards and caught one pass for five yards.

Justin Goodwin paced Clarkdale’s offense with 122 yards rushing. CJ Harris provided 88 yards rushing. Heath Harris had 60 yards passing. Damondra King led all receivers with 47 yards.

Defensively, Zach Hodge and Devin Kirtfield directed the Jackets with eight tackles each. Thompson had seven stops and Drake Allen provided six tackles.
