West Lincoln travels to Sumrall

West Lincoln (1-1), led by first-year head coach Charlie Jackson, experienced a heartbreaking 18-14 loss to Sacred Heart last week in Hattiesburg.
This week the Bears visit Sumrall to take on their former coach Willie Brumfield and the Sumrall Bobcats. Brumfield resigned from West Lincoln last summer to join the Sumrall football team as an assistant coach.
The Bobcats (0-2), led by head coach Shannon White, lost to Wesson 26-16 last week.
Rhett Harvey was Sumrall’s offensive leader last week. He completed 13-of-28 passes for 122 yards. Kenny Watts and Dennis Jackson were the Bobcats’ top receivers.
Carter McGuffee paced the Bobcats’ defense with 11 tackles.
West Lincoln’s top offensive performer last week was quarterback Jayden Rushing. He scored both of the Bears touchdowns and punched in a two point conversion.
Julian Anderson, Chance Lacking and Rushing were the top rushers for the Bears.
Defensively, Lofton Sills led the Bears with 10 tackles and four sacks.
My prediction: West Lincoln will have to contain Sumrall’s quarterback to pull out a 24-20 win.
