Franklin County (2-0), coached by Anthony Hart, feasted on the South Pike Eagles 19-0 last week in Meadville.
This week, the Bulldogs will take their first road trip this season as they travel across Hwy. 98 to Pricedale to battle the North Pike Jaguars.
The Jaguars (1-1), coached by Chris Smith, fell in their home opener to the Tylertown Chiefs in a close 38-27 contest.
Juwan Adams was the offensive leader on the field for the Jaguars as he completed 15-out of-40 for 355 yards against Tylertown. Javian Jackson led all receivers with seven catches for 151 yards. Dylan Adams caught six passes for 110 yards.
Jake Spears powered the Jaguars’ defensive attack with 13 tackles. Conner Travis provided nine stops.
FC’s top offensive player last week was junior running back De’Martre Collins with eight rushes for 39 yards. Isaiah Elam led the Bulldogs’ receivers with two catches for 42 yards.
Defensively, Chris O’Quinn led the Bulldogs with 13 tackles and one interception. FC sophomore defensive end Cameron Young made eight tackles, one sack and recovered a fumble.
Marquavis Dunn and La’darius Norman each registered nine tackles each.
My prediction: The Bulldogs will need to control North Pike’s passing attack to escape with a 28-20 win.
