A $2.3 million bid has been approved for phase two of construction for Lincoln County’s new baseball complex, which is on track to be complete in early 2016.

Chancery Clerk Tillmon Bishop said the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors awarded the contract to the local company Culbertson Contractors during a meeting July 23. The company had the lowest bid of $2,306,020.06. Other bids were submitted by T.L. Wallace and Paul Jackson and Sons.

Supervisors passed a resolution last year that would allow up to $2.5 million in general obligation bonds to fund the project. Phase one included dirt work by Greenbriar DSLP for $487,000.

County Engineer Ryan Holmes said there is a kickoff meeting scheduled for next week and construction should start within a couple weeks from that meeting. The contract is for 180 days, Holmes said, and construction should be completed in that time, around February 2016.

The second phase of construction includes everything except dirt work, and includes concrete; fencing; facilities, including press box, concession stand, batting cages, pavilion and dugouts; and lighting.

The site is located between the Hansel King Sportsplex and the Lincoln Civic Center.
