A candidate for District 5 supervisor in Lincoln County was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a domestic disturbance.
The candidate, Matthew Golmon, and his disabled father, Donald Golmon, were both arrested after police responded to a call at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday of a disturbance between family. Sheriff Steve Rushing said the report indicates that both Matthew and Donald claimed the other assaulted him first.
Deputies did not reconcile who started the fight but arrested both for simple assault and domestic violence. Shannon Golmon, Donald’s wife, and Kayla Ann Golmon, Matthew’s 21-year-old daughter, both were present during the fight, according to the report.
According to the report, both Shannon and Kayla made attempts to break up the fight, both possibly sustaining minor injuries in the process. Rushing said it appeared Shannon had a pre-existing injury that was exacerbated in the scuffle, and she went to get checked out at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Both Matthew and Donald Golmon are out on bond, awaiting a court date. Rushing said there was a call made in 2010 indicating threats had been exchanged over the telephone between the father and son, and that they had been having problems. Other calls included one complaint, one escort and two disturbances to Matthew’s resident in 2011.
Donald declined to comment and Matthew could not be reached for comment.
