Mr. McKenzie, 67, of Bogue Chitto, died Monday, June 8, 2105, at Courtyard Rehabilitation in McComb. He was born Nov. 2, 1947, in Fernwood to Thomas Ed McKenzie and Alyne Dykes McKenzie.

Gerald McKenzie was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army.  He operated McKenzie Fish and Seafood for many years.  His love for the outdoors brought about many wonderful memories for his family, camping, fishing and just playing in the dirt were wonderful hobbies of Gerald’s.  He was a great wheelwright and wagon builder.  He was a collector of “old” stuff, which caused his family to laugh at his “Sanford and Son” mentality.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kristen McKenzie Sisco; two sisters, Betty Watson and Sunny Fortenberry; three brothers, Ronnie, Billy and Ray McKenzie; and a sister-in-law, Carol Chapman.

He is survived by his wife, Nita McKenzie of Bogue Chitto; two sons, Dan McKenzie (Lori) of Bogue Chitto and Bruce McKenzie (Brenda) of Lucedale; a son-in-law, Kenneth Sisco of Meredian; a sister, Shirley Crawford of McComb; seven grandchildren, Brandon McKenzie, Taylor McKenzie, Megan McKenzie, Micah McKenzie, Abigayle McKenzie, Layne Sisco and Caden Sisco; sisters-in-law, Joy Steele (Bob); Shug Phillips and Helen Smith; special friends, Lloyd Freeman (Glenda) and Marilyn Lester; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s Association or the Baptist Children’s Village.
