$19,000 donated for new baseball scoreboard

The Brookhaven School District Board of Directors met Tuesday at 6 p.m. Various financial matters were the bulk of the meeting.
Before getting down to Business, the Board of Directors were treated to an art show by students from BHS’s Art I and Art II classes. Mediums used included charcoal, mosaic, scratch drawing as well as pencil drawings.
The board accepted several donations. The largest included two donations to assist in the costs of adding a new scoreboard at the baseball field. The Bank of Brookhaven and King’s Daughters Medical Center each donated $9,500. Superintendent Ben Cox expressed his appreciation to KDMC and the Bank of Brookhaven for their contributions to the new score board.
Other donations included Rebecca Lawrence Doty donated $500 to go towards expenses of Brookhaven High School’s Choir participation in the New Orleans Choral Festival. The Iron Club donated $1,142.60 to Brookhaven High School’s powerlifting team for needed supplies.
The board approved Lipsey School and Brookhaven High School’s requests for fundraisers. Lipsey will help raise money for muscular dystrophy by selling Shamrocks. BHS’s Choir will have a pancake breakfast, dinner theatre (spaghetti/lasagna), car wash, world’s finest chocolate, teacher vs. seniors kickball match and garage sale with dates and times to be determined at a later date.
The board also approved to transfer funds from debt service to bond debt service in the amount of $450,970. This amount will be repaid to the debt service fund at the ad valorem collections are received.
Board President Stan Patrick announced that there were no findings in the district’s audit report.
