Something had to give as both teams stepped on the floor Friday night looking to end a four-game district losing streak.
It was the Enterprise Lady Jackets (13-8, 1-4) who came out from the start and finished big in the second half as they cruised to a 14-point victory over East Marion. Enterprise led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Eagles cut into the Enterprise lead as the Lady Jackets carried an 18-16 advantage going into the halftime break.
The second half was all Enterprise as the Lady Jackets outscored East Marion 23-11 as they went on to win by a final score of 41-27.
Enterprise was led offensively by a pair of sophomores. Alyssa Barlow and Courtney Greer each scored 12 points in the Enterprise win. Barlow grabbed eight rebounds, and Greer added five more boards and added four steals for Enterprise.
Jerrica Echols scored 10 points for East Marion in the loss.

The drought is over. At least for the Enterprise boys when it comes to district play. The Yellow Jackets picked up their first district win of the season as they hammered East Marion 70-55 on their home floor on Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets capped the night off with a huge fourth quarter to seal their first district win in quite some time.
“I’m proud of my guys and the way they played not only tonight, but all week long,” Enterprise Coach John Knight said.
For the Yellow Jackets, a lot of hard work and preparation all season long led them to victory.
East Marion started the game off as they led by as many as eight points in the first quarter. At halftime, the Eagles maintained a 36-29 advantage.
In the third quarter, the Jackets threatened to take a lead but could not quite get over the hump as they trailed 49-45 going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter, however, belonged to Enterprise as the young Jackets stepped up making shot after shot when it counted most. The Yellow Jackets (10-11, 1-4) outscored the Eagles 25-6 in the fourth quarter to win it by 15.
Jontavious Smith powered Enterprise with 23 points in the win. Sophomores Dwayne Pendleton and Zach Hodges added 20 points and 12 points respectively.
East Marion was led by Jermaine Burkett’s 17 points in the loss.
