West Lincoln sweeps Enterprise

The West Lincoln Bears and Lady Bears captured a pair of division wins over the Enterprise Yellow Jackets Tuesday night in Region 7-2A basketball action at Enterprise Gymnasium.
In the girls game, the Lady Bears knocked off the Lady Jackets 40-33.
In boys action, the Bears defeated the Jackets 61-54.
Enterprise will resume action Friday for more Region 7-2A action as they prepare to host the East Marion Eagles for three games. The junior varsity game is schedule to start at 5 p.m., followed by a pair of varsity games.
West Lincoln will take the rest of the week off from division action and return to the hardwood Tuesday as the welcome the Loyd Star Hornets to Jack Case Gymnasium for three game. The junior varsity boys will tip off at 5 p.m., followed the varsity girls at 6 and the boys at 7:30.
West Lincoln 40, Enterprise 33
The Lady Bears and the Lady Jackets provided an exciting defensive ball game for the basketball fans as both teams fought hard throughout the contest.
In the first quarter, West Lincoln managed to fight through Enterprise’s tough defensive to claim a 11-8 lead.
In the second quarter, the Lady Jackets (12-7, 0-4) battle back and outscored the Lady Bears 9-3 to take a 17-14 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the battle resume as West Lincoln managed to keep the game close with a 11-9 run as Enterprise carry a 26-25 lead into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears (6-13, 2-3) continued their offensive and defensive aggressiveness to put together a 15-7 run to claim the win.
“We played really consistent throughout the whole game,” said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “The girls played very well offensively and defensively in the fourth quarter. Enterprise has a good team and they played hard. We were very fortunate to make a few more plays than them to get the win.”
Jana Case pumped in a game high 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Lady Bears. Hanna Moak was the leader on the boars with 10 rebounds and provided seven points. Layton Sill also contributed seven points.
Alissa Barlow and Courtney Greer directed the Lady Jackets offense with eight points apiece. Michelle Herrington chipped in with seven rebounds. Greer and Herrington lead on the boards with five rebounds each.
“The effort was there for my girls,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “We just did not make enough shots to get the win.”
West Lincoln 61, Enterprise 54
In the boys contest, the Bears and the Jackets provided another defensive battle for the fans. West Lincoln came out strong to claim a 19-12 lead in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, both teams scored 12-points each as the Bears carry a 31-24 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Jackets (9-11, 0-4) rallied back with a 16-12 run to cut down West Lincoln’s lead to 43-40.
In the final period of action, the battle heated up as Enterprise’s offense continued to roll, but in the last 1:30 left in the game, West Lincoln (8-11, 3-2) finished perfect from the charity stripe, going 10-of-10, to preserved the victory.
“Enterprise outplayed us tonight,” said Young. “We were very fortunate to escape with the win.”
Keshaun London powered the Bears’ offense with 25 points and nine rebounds. Ronnie Edwards contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and finished 12-of-12 from the free throw line. Le’darrius Jones was the leader on the boards with 10 rebounds.
Dwayne Pendleton was the offensive leader for the Jackets with 25 points and eight rebounds. Zach Hodges and Jontavious Smith provided nine points apiece. Smith also helped on the boards with eight rebounds. Tyler Gill added eight points.
“I was very proud of my guys effort,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “If we had made some key shots and free throws down the stretch the outcome would probably be different.”
In junior boys action, the Enterprise Jackets beat the West Lincoln Bears 43-37.
Cade Feltus led the Jackets with 11 points. Austin Carter provided 10 points.
Seth Bivens directed the Bears with 12 points and Donterrius Taylor had 10 points.
