Amite County sweeps Enterprise

LIBERTY – The Enterprise Yellow Jackets traveled to Liberty on Tuesday night in search of their first district win of the season as they battled the home-standing Amite County Trojans. The Yellow Jackets would come up empty as the Trojans came away victorious in both varsity contests.

In the varsity girls’ game, the Lady Trojans marched past Enterprise 51-25.

In the varsity boys’ contest, the Yellow Jackets fell behind early and couldn’t overcome the slow start in a 70-45 defeat.

Enterprise returns to action Friday night as they travel cross-county to meet arch-rival Loyd Star. Junior varsity action will tip-off the night beginning at 4:00 pm.

Amite County 51, Enterprise 25 

The Lady Trojans and Lady Jackets provided their fans an interesting and competitive first half as Amite County carried a 21-15 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, Enterprise (12-6, 0-2) struggled getting the ball in the basket as they fell behind 33-19 after three quarters of action.

The Lady Trojans (16-3, 2-0) were able to outscore the Lady Jackets 14-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out the 51-25 victory.

Enterprise was led by Courtney Greer’s 6 points and 7 rebounds. Carlee Nations added 5 points and dished out 5 assists for the Lady Jackets.

Amite County had two players score in double-figures. Fredreka Smith fired in 14 points and Destiny Williams added 10 points for the Lady Trojans.

Amite County 70, Enterprise 45 

In the varsity boys’ game, Amite County went on a 15-0 spurt to begin the game and never looked back as they cruised to a 70-45 win. The Trojans commanded a 32-14 lead at halftime.

D’Kenyace Roberts powered the Trojans with 19 points, 11 of which came in the first half of play.

Enterprise (9-9, 0-2) was led by Marvin Butler’s 12 points and 5 rebounds. Jontavious Smith added 9 points and 6 rebounds for the Jackets.

Enterprise couldn’t overcome their own mistakes as they finished the game with 21 turnovers. Amite County (6-12, 2-0) outscored the Jackets 38-31 in the second half on their way to the win.
