Several Lawrence Co. players earn Region 7-4A honors

The Lawrence County Cougars had four players to be selected on the First Team of the 7-4A All-Region Team of 2014. The players were T-Tez Cole (LB/RB), Laderrick McCray (WR/DB), Brandon Armstrong (OL/DL) and Quitten Brown (RB/DB).
Four members of the Cougars football team were recognized on the second team selection. They were Duke Tanksley (WR/DB), Jarius Snell (LB/RB), Noah McLaurin (OL) and Cedric Rhodes (DE/TE). The Cougars are under the direction of first year head coach Jaymie Palmer.
The coaches from the Region 7-4A classification gather together and voted on the player selections.
North Pike junior quarterback Juwan Adams bagged the highest honor as he was chosen as the Most Valuable District Player in Region 7-4A.
Nathan Roseberry of Purvis was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year. Brady Barlow of Purvis High received the Special Team Player of the Year honors.
The McComb Tigers captured two huge honors as Kadarrion Mason earned the Defensive Player of the Year. McComb coach Malcom Jones was selected as the District Coach of the Year
Cole, (5-11, 215, jr.) was the Cougars second leading rusher with 111 carries for 675 yards. Cole lead the receiving team with 17 catches for 417 yards. He also contributed 60 defensive tackles.
McCary, (5-6, 170, sr.) helped paced the LCHS Cougars with 139 yards receiving on 16 catches. Defensively, he had 38 tackles..
Armstrong, (5-11, 255, jr.) stepped up in his role as an offensive linemen and contributed 45 tackles on defense.
Brown, (5-7, 185, soph.) played a key role in Lawrence County offensive rushing attack as he lead the team with 844 yards on 138 carries. On defense, he played in the secondary and provided 18 tackles.
Tanksley, (5-8, 165, sr.) caught six passes for 83 yards. On defense, he posted 28 tackles.
Snell (5-4, 170, sr.) helped LCHS rushing attack with 55 carries for 223 yards on the season. Defensively, he had 50 tackles, which 44 were solo tackles.
McLaurin (6-0, 240, sr.) played a key role on LCHS offensive line.
Rhodes (6-0, 215, sr.) caught three passes for 43 yards on the season at tight end. As a defensive end, he had 39 total tackles, which 30 were solo tackles.
Region 7-4A All-Region Team

Offensive Player of the Year- Nathan Roseberry, Purvis.
Defensive Player of the Year- Kadarrion Mason, McComb.
Special Team Player of the Year: Brady Barlow, Purvis.
