West Lincoln finishes strong in state run

CLINTON – The West Lincoln girls and boys cross-country team finished strong in the MHSAA 2A State Championship Cross Country meet at Choctaw Trails, Saturday.

The Lady Bears finished in sixth place overall and the Bears came in eighth place overall.

New Site was crowned back-to-back Class 2A State champions in the girls 5K meet. McKaelah Muse of New Site took home the individual state championship with a time of 21:38.

In the boys 5K race, J.Z. George High School was the overall state champion for the second year in a row. Jordan Selmon of East Union won the individual state championship with a time of 17:13.

The Lady Bears  were lead by Jana Case who posted a time of 24:22. Lexis Leggett followed Case in the race with a time of 25:28. Other West Lincoln leaders were Georganna Allen, 26:23; Carlie Smith, 27:19 and Skylar Hall at 28:17.

The Bears were paced by Jason Watts with a time of 17:45. Watts finished in fifth place overall and was selected as an All-State member. Jordan Montgomery followed Watts with a time of 20:10. Other Bears runners were Todd Calcote, 21:06; Jonathan Mathis, 21:39 and Baylie Hughes at 22:24.
