Lady Cats blank Puckett

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats blanked the Puckett Lady Wolves 3-0 Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.
“Both teams played great defense last night,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We took several hits away from them. Our bats were silent for most of the game, but we managed to put it together in the sixth inning.”
The Lady Cats (18-8, 4-0) will return to action Saturday as they prepare to wrap up the regular season on the road against the West Lincoln Lady Bears for a varsity doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
Bogue Chitto 3, Puckett 0
Bogue Chitto and Puckett battled back-and-forth in a defensive, scoreless ball game, until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Lady Cats managed to push three runs across the plate to secure the win.
Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with no strikeouts and one walk.
Carlee Evans suffered the loss on the mound for the Lady Wolves with no strikeouts and no walks.
Christian Black was the offensive leader at the plate for BC with a double and a single. Zariah Matthews and Alana Nettles provided two singles apiece. Hitting safely was Colby Kirkland and Cherie Savoie.
Kinley Westerfield directed Puckett’s offense with two singles. Abigail Carter, Callie Holmes and Molly Welch hit a single each.
In junior varsity action, Bogue Chitto defeated Puckett 7-3.
Stevie Montgomery tossed the victory for BC.
Patton Barron and Montgomery were the top hitters for the Lady Cats with two singles apiece. T’Asia Black contributed a double. Lineka Newson, Kinley Douglas and Codi Leggett hit safely.
