Lady Panthers dominate Callaway

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers continued to dominate their opponents in Region 6A/5A action as they extinguished the Callaway Lady Chargers in a varsity doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in slowpitch softball action at Ole Brook Lady Panthers Softball Complex.
The Lady Panthers blanked the Lady Charger 15-0 in the first game and steam rolled Callaway 19-2 in the second game. Both games concluded in three innings of action.
“We hit the ball really well overall, but we still need to work on getting the ball out of the air,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “Jadeyn Fuller did a great job pitching for us tonight.”
Brookhaven (13-10, 8-0) returns to action Thursday as they travel to take on the Forest Hill Patriots for a varsity game only starting at 5 p.m.
Brookhaven 15, Callaway 0
The Lady Panthers came out strong to secure a 4-0 lead in the first inning and hammered the Lady Chargers with a nine-run blast in the second inning. The contest ended in the third inning with two more runs.
Jadeyn Fullers pitched a no hitter for the Lady Panthers in the opening contest victory collecting two strikeouts and allowed five walks.
LaTaya Jackson suffered the loss for the Lady Chargers with no strikeouts and four walks.
Katherine Shell powered Ole Brook’s offense with a home run and a single. Kat Wallace contributed a double and two singles. Chantel Quarles provided two singles. Jada Henderson ripped a double. Tia Bussey, Kyla Henderson and Fuller hit safely.
Brookhaven 19, Callaway 2
In the second game, Callaway stuck first to begin the first inning, but Brookhaven bounced back in the bottom of the first inning by scoring two runs for a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning, The Lady Panthers torched the Lady Chargers with a 17-run explosion to claim a commanding 19-1 lead. Callaway managed to score the second run in the third inning before suffering the loss in the three innings of action.
Fuller claimed her second win of the evening on the mound for the Lady Panthers with no strikeouts and one walk.
Jackson took the loss for the Lady Chargers with no strikeouts, three walks and four intentional walks
Julianna Porters sparked Ole Brook’s offensive hitting clinic with a home run. Fallon Brooks and Haley Speaks fueled the flames with two singles each. Jada Henderson added a double. Hitting safely was Danielle Batteast, Wallace and Fuller.
Jackson paced the Lady Chargers at the plate with a double. Latrica Funchess had a single.
