Funeral Services for George L. Faust of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at St. Paul M.B. Church. The Rev. Dr. Arthur Ben Faust will officiate; the pastor will be the Rev. Joe Leavy. Tyler Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, from noon until 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 until 7 p.m. at Tyler Funeral Home Inc.
Mr. Faust, 50, died Aug. 10, 2014, at Inverness Homes. He was born on May 10, 1964, in Centreville to Charlie Faust Sr. and Gracie Faust.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Liberty Baptist Church. He attended the Greenwood M.B. Church in Bogue Chitto.
He was a graduate of Liberty High School in 1982. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Jackson State University in 1986 where he was a loyal alumnus.
He was employed for several years as a firefighter for the Brookhaven City Fire Department. He later started his own business, Professional Fire and Safety LLC in Brookhaven where he was a licensed contractor. In 2006 his business was awarded Small Business of The Year by the Small Business Administration. In addition, he worked in his family’s business at R.E. Tyler Funeral Home, Inc. as a licensed funeral director and insurance agent.
Mr. Faust was a member of Mu Pi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. He was also a lifetime member of the NAACP.
He married the former Robin E. Tyler on Sept. 28, 1991.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Hattie Rose Faust and Dorothy Hunt; and one brother, Marvin Ray Faust.
Survivors are his loving wife, Robin Tyler Faust of Brookhaven; his daughters, Rachael and Georgette Tyler Faust both of Brookhaven; his granddaughter, Madeline Rose Faust of Brookhaven; his brothers, James “Donna” Faust, of Kenner, Louisiana, Charlie E. Faust of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Rev. Dr. Arther Ben “Zandra” Faust of Conroe, Texas, the Rev. Charlie “Becky” Faust Jr. of Liberty and the Rev. Roscoe S. “Toni” Faust of Houston, Texas; sisters, Betty J. Faust of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gloria “the Rev. Matthew” Veals of Tulia, Texas, Rita Davis of New Orleans, Louisiana, Yelva “the Rev. Michael” Washington of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Cephus Winding of Liberty; devoted father and mother-in-law, Robert E. “Ruby” Tyler of Brookhaven; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and to the American Stroke Association.
